Kylie Reps for 'All The Lovers' Out There

...and this is tremendously late. So I dedicate this post to the six of you Kylie fans who might not have already heard the single. Might being used very loosely.

Even still, when Kylie Minogue puts out a new album, nay, even a new single, the entire blogosphere gets excited (please see Mel's Blog Roll for examples of Kylie enthusiasts, myself included). "All The Lovers" dropped a while back, the first single off her upcoming eleventh (can you believe it?) record Aphrodite, due out in early July. (You really should be given warning now, given few artists are able to collectively mobmarket the pop blogosphere like Kylie can.) I've taken some time to familiarize myself with it, mostly because my attention was diverted by other things. However, Kylie is kind of a OBPA (Obligatory Blog Post Artist -- I'm trademarking this, feel free to use with credit. I kid...sort of), and therefore blog I must.

"All The Lovers" is etheral Kylie at her strongest. While I may be relatively new to the Kylie fandom (but a fan of a single here and there for a very long time), I'm starting to discover just how much I adore her uptempos ("Red Blooded Woman," "Love At First Sight", "Boombox", "Your Disco Needs You", etc. etc. x 3 million) rather than her slower material. With that said, "All The Lovers" is one of those strange hybrid electro numbers that combines airy balladry with heavy synth -- so much that it starts to drown out her vocals, which bothers me quite a bit (especially during the chorus).

It wasn't "Love At First Sight" (or rather "Listen") for me with this one, but with time, the song really grew and took on a life force of its own. It's not the strongest first single I've heard, especially not from Ms. Minogue, but if its what we can expect from Aphrodite (set to include production by Nerina Pallot and Starsmith as well as writing by Calvin Harris), I'm definitely on board.

i didn't realise how slutty the song sounds if you take it literally (all the lovers as in all the people you have slept with as opposed to all the people who have been in love!) :) It just still sounds like an idyllic slice of heaven to me though...

MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE Kylie devotee forever and always here, so you can probably tell how I feel about this one! - ADORATION ALL AROUND!

I do think it's one of her stronger singles (Then again, there is so many of them)!

Just out of personal interest, What are your thoughts on Please Stay (Light Years Single) and Tightrope (Fever-era Track), if you've heard them? Because they are kind-of ballady, but also dancey - much like the new single...

Yes, yes and yes. Amazing single, and if this is an indicator for the rest of the CD, it's going to be on perpetual replay.
