Rebecca Tapia Burns the Floor

On Tuesday night, I had the pleasure of taking in the Broadway dance show Burn the Floor, which attempts to capitalize on the voracious ballroom dancing craze created by "Dancing With the Stars" and "So You Think You Can Dance." It featured a series of couples from around the world dancing various ballroom styles to classic songs, performed by a real live band and occasionally with live singers. One of the singers featured was particularly intriguing to me, and her name is Rebecca Tapia.

After doing some more research on her, Rebecca is a former 'Australian Idol' contestant during the show's first season back in 2003 (however, she didn't get much further than the initial stages), and has gone on to appear in the Australian stage version of 'High School Musical' as Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens role). Her vocals were incredibly striking to me live, so I find it somewhat hard to believe she didn't get further in the 'Idol' competition.

It's relatively hard to find any clips or new music from her, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very thankful. The only thing I could really find was one of her performances on 'Idol', a cover of "Shadowland" from 'The Lion King.'

i loved her and i was totally voting for her that year on idol. She also sung I believe I can fly, but Australia chose to vote for the rock singer instead. She came back on a wild card but didn't make it, i think cause the second time round she focused more on her dancing rather than singing( cause she also dances) singing Let's Get Loud. I also wanna see more of her work!
