[WGO] Kelly Apparently Doesn't "Suck"

We may not have a new #1 in the Album Chart (::cough::Taylor Swift::cough::), but we do have a new #1 on the Hot 100. Kelly Clarkson out 'danced' my beloved Lady Gaga to take her new single, "My Life Would Suck Without You," proving I guess the public's lives sucked without her? I don't know. That's all the cheesy play on words I can muster with this one. The song still hasn't grown on me, and I doubt it ever will. Sure, it's catchy, it's poppy, but...I don't know. It just feels too easy.

It is noteworthy to say that "Suck" definitely doesn't suck chart-wise (oh, look at that -- I found yet another one, ::rolls eyes::), as it has broken the record for a jump on the Hot 100 chart -- jumping from #97 last week to officially be #1 this week.

Taylor Swift is #1 on the album chart, selling another 63K this week, however, Billboard is projecting it may be the end of her reign as Bruce Springsteen's latest Working On A Dream is suspected to be the new chart topper next week.

The rest of the top 10 on the Album Chart:

2. Beyonce I Am...Sasha Fierce
3. Nickelback Dark Horse
4. Kanye West 808s and Heartbreak
5. Twilight Soundtrack 6. Keyshia Cole A Different Me
7. Britney Spears Circus
8. Jamie Foxx Intuition
9. Notorious Soundtrack
10. Mariah Carey The Ballads (debut week)

Other than the entrance of Kelly, the Hot 100's Top 10 is relatively static, with the exception of the Fray, who's new single "You Found Me" hits its current peak at #8, up from #16, as the new Sales Gainer. The rest of the Top 10 are as follows:

2. Lady Gaga "Just Dance"
3. Beyonce "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)"
4. Kanye West "Heartless"
5. Taylor Swift "Love Story"
6. All American Rejects "Gives You Hell"
7. T.I. feat. Rihanna "Live Your Live"
8. The Fray "You Found Me"
9. Britney Spears "Circus"
10. Jason Mraz "I'm Yours"

PCD holds on to #11 with "I Hate This Part," while T.I. & Justin Timberlake's "Dead & Gone" is back on the up swing from #18 to #14 this week (probably thanks to the buzz they will perform the song on the Grammy's this year). However, this week was rife with artists continue to make a slow ascent up the charts:

The Veronicas hit a new peak at #17 with "Untouched", as does Ne-Yo with "Mad" at #19. Beyonce's hot new single "Diva" is up to #28, from #37 last week for its new highest position yet, and Lady Gaga's other amazing single, "Poker Face", scrambles up to #32 from #48 last week for its highest showing yet. Keri Hilson, fresh from the announcement that her album is now slated for actual release this March, is up to #35 as a new personal best, up from #43 after six weeks on the chart. Lastly, Katy Perry scratches her way into the Top 50 with her third single, "Thinking Of You", up from #79 last week to its new high position of #50.

This week's Hot Shot Debut is U2 with "Get On Your Boots" at #37. Even though it lacks a big brashy U2 chorus, I don't mind it.

Next week, we head into February territory, and will see releases from: Bow Wow, The Fray, Leona Lewis (same debut album, special edition) & Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

Top Adds at Radio this week include: T.I. & J.T.'s "Dead & Gone" at Top 40 (although Jesse McCartney's "How Do You Sleep?" comes in a very close second), obviously Kelly Clarkson's "Suck" blows away all competition at Hot A/C, R. Kelly's "I Believe" and Musiq Soulchild's "Sobeautiful" tie for adds at Urban A/C, Simply Red's "Go Now" at A/C, Beyonce's "Diva" (Rhythmic, although Eminem/Dr. Dre/50 Cent cut "Crack A Bottle" is also hot), Jamie Foxx's "Blame It" featuring T-Pain & Yung Joc at Urban and Rascal Flatt's "Here Comes Goodbye" at Country (a whopping 60 adds!). However, the big winner seems to be U2's "Get On Your Boots", as it's the top addition at AAA, Alt and Rock radio this week.
