When I Dance, They Call Me "Macarena"...

I don't know how many of you knew of Soluna, a female quartet that had some fame in 2002-ish. Their debut single, "For All Time", was a moderate hit at radio here in the US, and they won an award for Best New Artist in Mexico. They toured with Enrique Iglesias & Marc Anthony. Here is the music video for "For All Time" on back in 2002.

I helped work their street team and was lucky enough to have met them several times (look for several stories in my FLASHBACK section). They are some of the nicest people I have ever met in this business. I try to still keep in touch with them as much as I can. The last one I spoke to was Jessica not too long ago.

One of the members, T Lopez, has signed a solo deal with Cash Money Records, part of Universal. Her first release with them is a remake of the infamous "Macarena" for the song's ten year anniversary. Here's the video:

I first met them in 2002, about a week before my 15th birthday, and they brought me backstage to do an impromtu interview for my then website, Soluna Online -- the first and longest running fansite for the group. It's pretty comical and adorable. This is why I still love these girls, seven years after I first heard about them.

If you're curious about the others, Jessica is working on solo music independantly, America is breaking through with an acting career, and Aurora is concentrating on her family.
